Central Heating Grants

If there is no central heating in your home and the property is heated by other means such as fires, central heating grants are available to cover all or part of the cost of having a new system installed.

Someone in the household will need to be receiving one of seventeen qualifying benefits. The property should also be privately owned or rented from a private landlord.

What Type Of Heating System Qualifies?

Portable electric heaters, electric fires, gas fires, open fires, ducted warm air systems and electric storage heaters can all be replaced with a full central heating system.

All of these heating methods are inefficient and expensive so central heating grants are available to replace them with a more efficient heating system.

Who Qualifies For A Central Heating Grant?

You must own your own home or rent from a private landlord. Either yourself or another occupant must be in receipt of a qualifying benefit as outlined below.

A contribution towards the cost of the new central heating system may be required, depending on the amount of work needed and how efficient the property is. This can be paid for through savings on heating bills via the Green Deal.

If you are not entitled to a central heating grant, the other option is Green Deal Finance. This is effectively a loan but it is paid back using the money you will save by having central heating installed. There is nothing to pay until after the system is installed and the amounts are deduced from your bills.
