Electric Storage Heater Grants
Grants are available to pay for the replacement of inefficient or faulty storage heaters. Brand new units are fitted that can be up to 30% more efficient. You will therefore make big savings on your electricity bills.
To qualify, you must own the property or be renting from a private landlord. You must have electric strorage heaters, not electric fires or portable heaters. You will also need to be in receipt of an income-related benefit as shown in the table below.
Please check that you qualify then complete the form below.
Who qualifies for an electric storage heater grant?
You must be living in a private, domestic property i.e. not commercial, Council or Housing Association. Someone living in the household must be claiming at least one of the following benefits shown on the left below. Some benefits require at least one of the additional components on the right:
|Main Benefit||Additional Component|
* Income as shown on your last award letter.

What type of heaters can be replaced?
Storage heaters, sometimes known as night storage heaters, store heat during periods when electricity is cheaper e.g. at night. Heat is then released when required.
If your electric storage heaters were installed more than 10 years ago, or one or more of the units is faulty, you should qualify for a grant to have all the units replaced with modern, efficient units.
There are no grants available to install a full Gas/Oil/LPG heating system. Electric fires and portable electric heaters also do not qualify for replacement under the scheme.
Storage Heater Criteria
- Heaters are more than 10 years old
- Or at least one unit is faulty / not working
- You receive an income related benefit

In some circumstances you may have to pay a contribution,

What if you don't qualify?
If you don't qualify for a storage heater grant, we can arrange for you to receive up to 4 quotes to install a full Gas, Oil or LPG Central Heating system. How can EnergyLink help?
Once you have completed the form, we will allocate you to an approved local installer who has access to funding for storage heaters. They will contact you by telephone to arrange a free, no-obligation survey. If the property is suitable and you qualify for a grant, they will arrange the work and then claim the grant on your behalf.
